SOLD - THE PALMER HOUSE: You will love this one of a kind mid-century waterfront property designed by Architect Dan Duckham, well known for his creative Organic Architecture. The Palmer House, according to the architect, followed the development of circular forms into a kind of free-form vocabulary. Everything is circular here, and flows beautifully. The 2 bedrooms and full office / study have built-in beds, desks and storage areas, and sliding glass doors that open to landscaped courtyards, gardens, decks, and finally converge at a striking triangular 39 x 31 pool overlooking Julie Lagoon, a freshwater canal off of beautiful Lake Hanna. Mostly furnished, and move-in ready for you. Bring your kayaks!

SEE PHOTOS OF PROPERTY HERE: Wait until you see the round window in the living room, and the built-in fireplace, curvilinear custom seating areas and spectacular open, volume ceilings and skylights.

This courtyard-style home is nestled in Lutz, located 15 minutes from Tampa's airport and universities - near everything you need to do, but tucked away in a quiet, peaceful environment. There is no homeowner's association or HOA fees. Owners say you can park up to 9 cars in the driveway. On septic & well, there are already some green features in place. Interesting article about this property and the architect, Dan Duckham is available for your kind review.  Thank you for your interest!

The Sarasota School of Architecture 1941-1966 by John Howey

If you are a fan of architecture, this book belongs in your library. The Sarasota School of Architecture 1941-1966 by John Howey, Princeton Architectural Press (1997) explores the talented, idealistic architects who were drawn to the Gulf Coast of Florida, and left a legacy of influential mid-century modern houses, churches, schools and commercial buildings in the Sarasota, Florida area. Mr Howey introduces us to Paul RudolphRalph Twitchell, Philip Hiss, Mark Hampton, Victor Lundy, Gene Leedy,Tim Seibert, Bert Brosmith, Jack West, Carl Abbott, Frank Folsom Smith, William Zimmerman, Ralph Zimmerman, William Rupp and others who contributed to this important architectural movement.

Author and Architect John Howey lives in Tampa, Florida and continues his practice at John Howey & Associates.

Here is a recent photo I took during a visit with Mr Howey at Bay Villa Place, one of his award-winning projects (1978 AIA Tampa Award), in the Hyde Park area of Tampa, Florida, 2016.  - Enjoy!  -Martie
